About Playmakers
We are Playmakers, a 501(c)(3) volunteer-led non-profit organization that provides adaptive sports and recreation programs for kids and adults with developmental, cognitive, and physical disabilities in a welcoming and safe environment.
Our Story
Playmakers was born from a clear need: individuals with disabilities were often left without opportunities to participate in traditional sports. In 2016, we set out to address that by launching our community's first adaptive baseball program for individuals with disabilities, ages 5 and up. With a handful of dedicated coaches, passionate volunteers, and a deep commitment to inclusion, we began under the umbrella of our local baseball league. Fueled by the overwhelming demand in our community, we brought together the resources necessary to serve these families, growing from just nine players to a vibrant program that now serves over 200 families with the support of more than 100 dedicated volunteers.
Today, Playmakers offers adaptive programs in baseball, basketball, dance, and boccia, each thoughtfully designed for full accessibility. With new programs in development, we are continually expanding our offerings to create even more opportunities for individuals of all abilities to engage and thrive. Our custom rubberized turf field accommodates wheelchairs and mobility aids, creating a safe and inclusive space for play. We are a 100% volunteer-led organization, and while we continue to grow and develop new programs, our commitment remains unwavering: to provide a community where individuals with disabilities can play, grow, and thrive.
Looking to the future, our vision includes the Playmakers Village, an adaptive sports and recreation park that will offer even more opportunities for inclusion, connection, and personal growth. Guided by our motto, "Play Together: It’s Everybody’s Game," we are dedicated to building spaces where every individual, regardless of ability, is empowered to reach their full potential.
